Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm - Haleakala šŸ’œ

Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm is on the slopes of Haleakala. It has pathways that traverse the hillside and feature various plants including, of course, lavender. If it is a clear day you will see spectacular views of Kihei town and South Side beaches, Kahului town, the airport, the West Mauis and the narrow isthmus that joins the two volcanoes (Halekala and the West Mauis) to create the island of Maui.

The lavender was not in full bloom today, but in peak season you will see the hillsides covered in purple lavender flowers. We saw many protea, known as the world's most exotic flower. Protea are giant, prehistoric looking flowers that grow in Kula at altitude. They actually date back millions of years partly because they can survive wildfires and the toughest of weather conditions. They are originally from Africa. The blooms are gigantic. They are one of the classic flowers added to Hawaiian flower bouquets. We photographed their full cycle, from new buds to mature flowers to withered flowers.

Today, we visited the store which has unique gifts and smells of lavender which is very calming. Get inspired and learn about Ali'i Change and see spectacular photos of the farm here.
