Ka'a Point is a small beach with a protected bay perfect for swimming and floating in the water. There are many shady spots under the trees to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the sparkling blue green water and the West Maui mountains. A short walk to the right (north) around the tip of the bay opens up to another stretch of beach that is very windy and very popular with kite surfers. This stretch is known as Kite Beach. If you look carefully, you may find the fisherman's shrine placed under a tree and protected by a circle of black rocks in honor of Russell Matsuo Nakahashi 1/16/1961 - 8/19/2005. Hawaiian culture has great respect and love for family and kupuna (ancestor, honored elder). This is a tribute to a Maui fisherman with a beautiful smile.
