On our way to Kukanlioko we stopped in Wahiawa to visit the Shiva Linga. This shrine used to house the healing stone, a sacred pohaku named Keanianileihuaokalani that was believed to have healing powers. We visited this site 20 years ago when we lived on the North Shore of Oahu. The healing stone, which had broken into three pieces previous to being placed here, was moved due to controversy over Hindus protecting and revering the stones as a representation of Shiva because the stones were phallic. Hawaiian nationalists hijacked the stone with the intent of returning it to its earlier resting place near the Kukaniloko birthing site. The stones are gone, but the marble shrine remains with a Shiva Linga murti in its place. The shrine is located at 110 California Ave.
