There is a brilliant field of sunflowers in Central Maui that is grown and harvested for biodiesel fuel. Pacific Biodiesel is one of the few vertically integrated companies in the state of Hawaii and they started farming sunflowers in February 2017 as a biodiesel crop. The sunflowers have become such a popular attraction that dedicated, but limited, parking has been allocated on the side of Kuihelani highway. Practice malama (care) for this stunning site. Be careful and cautious when you park on the side of this busy roadway. Be mindful of the flowers, do not trample or pick them. Maui 24/7 has posted a collection of beautiful photos on their Facebook page. The field is located at the end of Kuihelani Highway heading in the Ma'alaea direction on the right hand side of the road. The sunflower fields are not always in bloom. Check the Maui 24/7 Facebook page to see if they are in bloom.
