Waihe'e Ridge has so many different viewpoints and moods. It starts with an expansive, rolling pasture that overlooks the ocean and the north east shoreline. You may see a few cows on the hillside, they are part of the ranch. The first part of the hike is short but steep and thigh burning. The next half mile is filled with spectacular views of waterfalls, valleys and the steep, lush green pali cliffs of Waihe'e Valley. Early on, you'll come upon a bench at a bend in the trail. This overlooks a distant double waterfall. It generally flows most of the year and is a beautiful sight against the steep green cliffs. A bit farther up the trail is a viewing platform that overlooks the valley. Today we got lucky, this trail is often under cloud cover in the late morning. The best time to visit is early morning.
